Early pregnancy or unviable pregnancy?

First off, I have irregular and very lengthy cycles (43-55 days). I took a pregnancy test 8/23 because it had been a while since my last period (7/7). Came back positive. Kept testing for about a week and the line kept getting darker and darker until I got a dye stealer. I have NO idea when I ovulated. So I went in for an ultrasound on Thursday and all they saw was a gestational sac and yolk sac. No embryo. They are guessing I’m between 4-5 weeks. Did my first blood draw today to check hcg levels and I’ll go back in Monday to do it again. 
Anyone else have a similar experience? Long, irregular cycles and unknown DPO are frustrating and worrisome since no embryo was seen.

Going through the same thing right now! I have long irregular cycles haven't had a period since May so they had no idea how far along I am. When I went in for the ultrasound I'm exactly 6 weeks but all they could see was gestational sac but not a fetal pole yet I got back in on the 20th for another ultrasound hoping for good news. 🤞 I hope you get good news also I know it's super nerve racking. 🤦

I don’t have long cycles or irregular ones but when I had my first ultrasound at 5/6 weeks there was only a sac. I was so nervous for weeks that nothing would show at my next appointment or that the pregnancy wouldn’t be viable. I went back and had one at about 8 weeks and saw my little blob (fetal pole and yolk sac) developing inside.

Sounds perfectly normal. I have short cycles and I didn't have my first ultrasound until 10 weeks but I have seen plenty of posts on here of early ultrasounds from around 4-5 weeks. All they see is a sac and the baby is fine. It's really too early to see much of anything else.
