What should I do??

I’m in need of some advice, my boyfriend and I were talking about getting married and he said all he wants to do is go to the courthouse but he knows I would rather have a wedding. My whole life I’ve wanted a wedding but all i want is to marry him so I don’t know what I want now. I would love a small wedding but it would be nice to save that money for a house and family. Is there anyway I can make a wedding super affordable but still nice?

My husband said the exact same thing and at first I was iffy but my sister was planning a wedding at that same time and seeing all the stress she went through for one day really changed my mind.
I loved that we eloped in the end! We invited our immediate family and our friends who set us up and then we went out to a super nice restaurant after. We probably spent less than $500 on everything. I still wore a white dress (short) , got my hair professionally styled, and had a “wedding cake”

and he wore a nice suit so it still felt like a really small wedding.

I don’t want an expensive wedding so I’m going natural. Forest wedding, beach reception, seasonal flowers, and any decorations I want I can build myself or buy cheap. The dress I like is under $200 - cheap doesn’t mean it isn’t beautiful and the simple design suits me. For food at the reception I want to do a grazing table (look it up on Pinterest, it looks so nice and it’s simple!).

My ex’s cousin set up a nice arch (they built it with some trees cleared from her fathers yard) in a public, riverside spot with some chairs and that was it for them (didn’t go to the reception so idk what they did there). 
I like natural because nature provides. You don’t need to do a lot of shopping or spend much money when you can find most of what you need in nature itself 😊

I went to the courthouse and I have no regrets. I didn't waste any money in a useless party and all that comes with it. This way we just focused on what marriage is all about. A wedding doesn't make a great marriage. It just lasts a day, a marriage (should) lasts a lifetime. My mom and mil threw a simple lunch at a restaurant with our close family to celebrate and for our family members get to know each other. It was simple and quick just like we wanted. And it's been great, we are now expecting our bundle of joy 😊

How important is a wedding that lasts less than a day when marriage gets tough? Wedding or courthouse, at the end of the day it’s the marriage that’s deserving of time and compromises.
