Do you REALLY need it all?

Question

FTM here and I’m trying to figure what is needed versus what is convenient for baby. 
I’ve been looking at swings, bouncers, swing & bouncer combinations, floor seats, and jumpers.  Are all of those things really that great and convenient to have?  I’m not concerned about cost, it just seems like a lot of pieces of baby equipment that are all only used for a short time, and then you have to store it all. 
Also, if you have any recommendations on brands for those things - let me know!

Personally, no, I don't think you need it all. But everyone is different. 
To me, baby needs a place to sleep, clothes, a way to eat, and diapers. That's it. Everything else is extra. Some of it is definitely useful...but some stuff is well-marketed pricey junk. At the end of the day, it's your money and none of my business. But I've been an infant/toddler teacher for years, and never used half the contraptions; never needed them. So now I'm pregnant with #1, and we don't intend to get any big things beyond the crib, a carrier/wrap, and a carseat.

My son was a preemie and met with physical therapists 5 days a week who all said the bumbo type seats and any jumpers/ bouncers where their hips are in a seated position are not healthy. So that cut down a lot of stuff! Really all you need is a place for them to sleep, a place to put them when you need to do something (something that can easily be moved from room to room), a way to feed them, and a way to take them out in the world(carrier or stroller). Everything else is extra!

No you don’t need any of it! My favorite was a bouncy seat that vibrated and an exersaucer.

I didn’t buy any of that stuff until my baby got a little bit older and we noticed he liked the bouncing motion so he got a bouncer. He got a sit me up seat when he wanted to sit but didn’t want to be held anymore. 
I got a swing as a gift and he used it maybe 5 times. 🤷🏼‍♀️

With my son since he's super delayed when aea came in they said not to even use those things only 15 min max the best thing is the baby to be on the floor for strength. We got rid of everything when he was 6 months old. Worked with him but turns out he has a lack of muscle tone in his core and neck and now we're trying to figure out what's wrong we see a specialist in a month to be observed by 5 drs.
Anywho I just believe that you should have a bed/ bassinet at first I loved my rock n play with acid reflux and a playmate and toys honestly.

With my first, we only had the bouncer thing, a swing and playpen. We had a gazillion toys from my niece so it all worked out. We didn’t think we would have another and here we are lol. We are starting over but not buying everything new. We have some brand new things but most of it has come from friends, or Facebook marketplace and OfferUp.

My son Loved his jumper. As he got a little bigger where his feet could touch the floor when he stood in it he jumped in it everyday. He Loved playing in it, kept him entertained and it helped me do things like clean up the room while he was in it. He played in it until he was too big to jump in it. One of the best things we bought for him like that.

I got wayyy too much stuff when I was pregnant that I thought I needed. Babies are all different and things that work great for some don’t for Others. I would wait until you meet your babe and solve the problems as they come. Unfortunately my FAVORITE baby gear was recalled for killing babies, so now I don’t even know what to do with the next one (Rock n Play)
