*How long did it take for your child to adjust to daycare?*

My son has been in daycare for three days and I’m thinking about taking him out. Whenever I come to pick him up he’s crying. I like his teachers, but right now may not be the right time for him to be in daycare. He’s 13m, teething and very clingy to me. I also noticed he’s starting to sneeze and cough. No fever. When I’m at home, all I could do is worry about him. I don’t think he’s adjusting well, he’s not eating and napping as well as he does at home.
What do you think? How was it transitioning your child into daycare.

My LO (20 months old) attends 2 days a week. It's been almost a month and he still cries like crazy when I drop him off but his teachers say he calms down after with minimal tears during the day. We cried on and off the first few weeks through out the day. He still isn't sleeping and eating as he does as home but I that's because he doesn't attend every day and it will take him longer than usual to get used to it. It is very normal for them to take a few weeks to adjust (I've worked in daycare and now teach kindergarten). It is also very normal for them to get frequent colds once they start because of how many children they are exposed to. It builds their immune system for when they start school, that is for sure! It is normal for you to feel like a 'terrible' mom because no one wants to make their child intentionally feel this way but there truly is a lot of benefits that show once they start school. Give your LO a month to adjust, if it continues then consider re-entering the program at a later date.

The first two days my son went he refused to eat anything and he was 10 months old. Then he got used to it after about two weeks. But they will get a lot of colds for the first year thats normal as they are exposed to lots of germs.

We just switched to a new daycare about a month ago and the first week was really tough for her and then Monday the next week because of the break on the weekend. Then that Tuesday I put her down and she walked off to play like she didn’t care I was there lol

Take him out and stay home with him! He’s only little once and he needs you! :)

When my first was an infant it took him about a week to adjust, same with my second. My first switched daycares when he was older, at 22 months, and that was a lot harder on him because he was more aware. It took him a good 2 weeks to settle in that time. Even though I knew daycare was good for us I had moments where I questioned it then because those 2 weeks felt very, very long with a sad anxious toddler.
