Separation Anxiety Getting Worse

So I'm a SAHM so I'm with my son 24/7 pretty much. Well he showed his separation anxiety at around 7ish months but quickly calmed down. Now nobody can hold him unless its Daddy when I'm around. He just cries and yells Mama. Is it normal for it to get worse before it gets better? Its everyone, uncles he used to love, grandmas that have seen him every week sometimes multiple times a week since birth. I went grocery shopping the other day while he stayed with Dad and saying goodbye was a nightmare and he cried for so long after I left that Dad called me to talk to him on the phone to hear my voice.
