Does anyone regret getting braces?

Question

I’m 23 and trying to figure out if I actually want to spend money on braces. My teeth are straight for the most part except for one tooth that is pushed back a little which is very noticeable when I smile. It’s the reason why I’m self conscious taking open smile pictures. I would love to hear stories of the good, bad and the ugly.

I had braces forever as a teen and was happy with results but I never used my retainer and now I can notice that my teeth are shifting back. not too much, but they aren't as straight. if you do decide, use your retainer!!

You could try invisalign if youre concerned about the look? Or is it the money?

Absolutely not. I had braces for about 3 years. I thank my mom all the time for forcing me to get them because my smile is one of my best features. Most of my confidence comes from my smile. I will never regret it, if anything I regret not wearing my top retainer enough (bottom is permanent). If my teeth shift after having kids I will 100% get braces or invisible aligners to correct them.

I had braces as a teen, but after having problems with my wisdom teeth & when they started to come up they shifted my teeth to the point my retainers down fit anymore, has my teeth removed and honestly thinking about getting braces again to fix my smile again. Very conscious about them now

Yes I regret it. My teeth got straight but since they refused to give me a permanent retainer I gave up fighting my teeth after 7 years of the same retainer because it was disgusting and my teeth shifted after a week of not wearing it. My ortho said I needed to wear it EVERY night. My teeth are more crooked than before lol. I wouldn’t pay for braces again. I’d rather do an aligner and not pay thousands for it when it wasn’t going to stay unless I literally wore my retainer every night for the rest of my life. Gross.

Braces might be a pain to go through every check up(month) in 2 years. BUT it was never a thing I regret. Ever. It gave me a lot of confidence in smiling brightly with my teeth. And if you think about it you will only need to suffer 2 years for a lifetime of great smiles. Just remember to wear your retainers at night otherwise theres a chance it might move.
