Anyone else miss every other period??

I’ll start out by saying we have been TTC for 6

months. We use ovulation strips and I have yet to have a positive. I have missed every other period since we set out TTC with out being pregnant. I get cramping and will “spot” maybe a pea size amount a day around the time of my period on months I don’t have a period. My doctor told me 3 months ago it was not a problem and to keep trying that I don’t have to ovulate to get pregnant...Does anyone else have this problem?!
