Herpes type 1 + suppressive treatment

Has anyone else had HSV-1 and had to take Valtrax the last weeks of pregnancy? I first contracted the virus about 8 years ago and did have a genital outbreak but haven’t had much of anything since. I talked with doctor to make sure I’m taking the correct precautionary steps in case I were to have an outbreak and he said I will take Valtrax from about 32 weeks on. Anyone else had experience with this?
