I was having twins but one is gone?

Question

At 8 weeks I was told I’m having twins, now I’m told there is only one baby at 10 weeks. I’m devastated. They said the second one was two weeks smaller than the other, both had heart beats, 164 and 170. Anyone else have this happen? 
First two sonos were my 8 weeks ones where I had two babies.
The 3rd was my sono at 10 weeks when they told me there was only one.

Monochorionic twins are monozygotic twins that share the same placenta. If the placenta is shared by more than two twins, these are monochorionic multiples. Monochorionic twins occur in 0.3% of all pregnancies. 75% of monozygotic twin pregnancies are monochorionic; the remaining 25% are dichorionic diamniotic.
They also told me the one of my twins was growing but had no heart beat they couldn’t find out what was happening 
I was having ultrasounds weekly to see what was going on but baby 1 was 2 weeks Behind baby 2 and vanishing twin syndrome is definitely a thing but I would give up untill your at at least 20+ weeks you should see 2 or 1 pregnancy good luck !

This hasn’t happened to me but it’s called disappearing twin. It typically happens before 10 weeks I believe. I’m so sorry for your loss

Yes the same thing happened too me it was called monochorionic twins but I sadly passed them both one after the other

I was told I had two gestational sacs at 4 weeks then when I went in 2 weeks later the other was gone and only one baby was developing with no heartbeat. I find out on the 18th if this baby has a heartbeat. It's called vanishing twin. You can google it. Its very common
