Bell's palsy???

Anyone else here suffering from bells palsy?? I want to reach out and discuss recovery time/process because I don't know anyone who has it and feeling a bit alone.

Yes and I want to share my story/advice in case it helps other moms out there. I suddenly developed Bell's Palsy (BP) on the right side of my face at 5 days postpartum. It was scary. My mom thought I was having a stroke so we went to an emergency center. They told me I had BP. They wanted to give me steroids to help speed recovery but said I couldn't take them because I was breastfeeding. When I got home, I read scary stories of BP lasting for months and/or leaving people with permanent weakness on one side of their face. As miserable as I already felt as a sleep deprived mom with sore nipples etc this just made it so much worse, as I felt like I couldn't be seen in public. Then my best friend who is a doctor told me the ER doctor was wrong, that I could take the steroids when breastfeeding. She sent me information that confirmed that very low amounts are passed through breast milk and that, anyway, it's not harmful to the baby because these are naturally occurring hormones and no adverse effects have been reported. It wasn't until my OB got back from vacation a week later that he confirmed what my friend said (no contraindication) and wrote me a prescription for methylprednisolone. I was worried they wouldn't work since it had been longer than the recommended 72 hours but it took effect almost immediately and now, less than 2 weeks after BP onset, I'm almost fully recovered and my milk production has not been affected. So, YES, YOU CAN TAKE PREDNISONE WHILE BREASTFEEDING! Don't let ultra conservative / risk adverse doctors tell you otherwise. Unlike tons of other drugs, they actually do have enough data about this one and it's fine, and will help speed your recovery!
