Backed out on my IUD INSERTION

I had my insertion booked for next week for the Mirena IUD, I’ve already purchased it and everything but then after reading some horror stories about it I decided to back out and cancel my appointment. Did I do the right thing? My concerns were weight gain, acne, cramps, constant bleeding, mood changes (I had a history of depression and attempted suicide 10 years ago in high school which worries me) I don’t want anything messing with my mood and mental health, and future fertility problems as I still would like more children.
