Struggling with Painful Sex- ADVICE PLEASE!

Hi ladies, I’m really looking for some help. I am extremely comfortable with my boyfriend and love him so much, but am still really scared to have sex with him. We tried it once and he was barely inside of me and it hurt so bad that we stopped. I was spotting blood for a couple days after that. I want to try again, but I’m really scared of that pain again. I think the issue is that I have literally never put anything up my vagina- no fingers, no tampon. Is there something I can do to prepare for next time so that the pain wont be as intense? Also, is that pain normal? Please help :(
