Will I lose custody of my kids if I go to a homeless shelter

I need to escape from my mother.

She’s aggressive, controlling and abusive. The negativity she’s bringing into my heart is so bad that I seriously contemplated how to actually kill her because she’s breaking me in ways I thought I couldn’t break. I need to leave.

If I decide to move into a home for mother’s, will cps take my children? I heard that it is possible if they deem you unfit for deciding to move into a shelter.
