What does preterm labor feel like?

For a couple hours I have had a constant cramping in my lower bump. This has been accompanied by braxton hicks that hurt in my hip and back. I have been in labor before, but with my son it came on so strong and quick, it was different than what I imagine a preterm labor would feel like. We're heading out of town tonight so I just want to know what to look out for.

Are you referring to early labor symptoms?  Make sure your hydrated and drink lots of waters. They can contribute to BH and cramps.  
Preterm or early labor symptoms would include regular, consistent, increasing in strength and predictable contractions that get closer together.  If you have more than 6/hr and continue to have them for more than an hour, it would be best to call.  They’ll probably ask you to drink water and lay down if you haven’t.  You could also have other symptoms like bloody show, water breaking, vomiting, etc.
