BREASTFEEDING HELP!?!

Hi Mamma’s! So I had my 3rd baby 3 days ago 😍 My milk is starting to come in but I’m so engorged! Baby girl typically only will take one breast per feeding so I’ve been using the Hakka to drain the other...I have a lactation consultant coming on Monday but just wondering if anyone has any tips?? I exclusively pumping with my first two but I’m determined to breastfeed baby girl and slowly incorporate pumps! Any help would be greatly appreciated 😊

Give it some time, your breasts will regulate your supply based on what your baby needs and you shouldn’t need to worry about engorgement for long. Congratulations!

Cold compress after you nurse. You can pump for relief but as little as possible to avoid creating an oversupply (contrary to popular belief that can be a big problem!)

Yeah, you’re breasts will be huge while they regulate. I look back at photos and can’t believe how swollen they were. If it is getting really painful I would have a shower and express a little to make it more comfortable for myself.

Massage, massage, massage. I massaged both breasts before I began feeds. I massaged them for a few minutes afterwards. A few feeds and I was so much better. My breasts were rocks... it took two nurses to massage them just to get some of the clogged ducts out. I was so engorged that I couldn’t even hand express. Massage yourself and really get in there with your knuckles.

In time ur milk will regulate to how much the baby is eating/ur pumping,what helped me was warm wash cloth on my breast with light massage when in the shower and the taking 2 fingers and pressing on the top and bottom and then left and right of my nipples to help make sure I don’t get any blocks.
