Are 7th graders embarrassed of parents/ adults

Im really close with a family member who has a son. The 3 of us have had alot odd great experiences together. Her son is sweetest kid ever. Anyways, he is getting older now. When I saw him at the park it was like he was trying to escape me from talking to him. He was with his friends. Then again, my husband and I were walking our dog, I didn't even see him but my husband did. He didn't want to be rude so was like hi buddy. Are you playing football?, only to have the kid pretty much blow us off. We are really close with his mom and him too I'd say. We are in our 30s and rather cool😎so it sucks to think we are an embarrassment to him😭
