Ftm trans how did you choose a name?

Im ftm trans new to transitioning. I hate my birth and names they very feminine. How did you choose your name? I like unique names. The name I kind of like gets me weird looks so yeah. 
 What do you all think I look like? Sorry about the bad photo. Im 100% NOT photogenic in any way shape or form. And I HATE the way I look. Ugh. The dysphoria is strong.

I'm not trans, so I can't say anything from personal experience, but I have friends who have shared their stories about how they chose their new name. You can look up what your birth name means, and find a new name more suitable to your gender that means the same thing. It's something one of my friends did because he still wanted his parents to feel respected by keeping it similar to his old name. It's all about personal preference though, and it certainly doesn't have to even be related to your birth name. To me personally, you look like you could be a Jasper, Harrison, Warren, Octavian, or Augustus. Powerful names, I think! Hopefully unique enough for your tastes lol. I initially chose Andy. I looked at a bunch of gender neutral names ( I previously ID’ed as non-binary ) and it kind of stuck with me. But I thought “ok, what are some longer versions of Andy? It’s just kind of a nickname” and I somehow came up with Orlando. I would say to look at some baby naming websites, they have tons of names there. My personal favorites are Dante, Rocky, Adrian, and Gabriel. But it’s totally up to you, it’s your name after all. I hope you find yours soon!

My name Ren comes from the first part of my given middle name Renee. It just fit so well - I thought about a lot of names and I had my spouse try them out loud with me. Then I wrote Ren down like 1000 times to get the feel of it written.

My friends who are trans chose names really close to their’s before, but you can choose whatever you like. Weird looks on other people’s faces have nothing to do with you.
Sorry you are going through dysphoria and struggling to pic a name as you go about the next steps, but I am happy that you are becoming a more authentic you!

If you can, maybe ask a parent about what your name would have been if you had been born male? You may not like it, but it could give you an idea.
