Ultrasound to check growth?

Hi all. Just got back from my appt, I’ll be 35 weeks tomorrow. I don’t have GD and my blood pressure is normal. However, the doctor said she couldn’t tell what position baby is in and that baby feels large so she ordered an ultrasound for next week. I’m excited because we couldn’t see her face at all during our 3D at 28 weeks, so we get one more ultrasound. I’m curious if any of you ladies have had this experience. What was the outcome if baby was “large”? Did they induce you? Thanks ladies.

With my first I always looked and measured small, delivered at 38+5 and she was over 9lbs! Unexpected but pushing only took 25 minutes and had no issues. Pregnant with second and we’re not scanning for size just because we’re assuming another large baby but know my body can handle it so we’re not worried. My doctor makes funny comments every time- I’m still measuring small and have only gained 14 lbs but doctor always says “you’re not fooling me this time” 😂 so you just never know- but it doesn’t automatically mean induction or cesarean! The only difference is that this time she’s offered induction at 39 weeks just to be sure she doesn’t get TOO big.

My baby was also measuring large at 35 weeks and couldnt feel the head...went to the ultrasound she was actually head down and on the smaller side nearly 6lbs. She is now measuring perfectly, still she will just be a smaller baby....My midwife said the babies weight tends to come from the father & mother. My boyfriend was a 7lb baby and I was about 8lbs 5oz! I was worried she was going to be a big baby and im so tiny 😳

I have an ultrasound tomorrow (36wk), baby is breech so it's just position confirmation which I already know. Most women can deliver large babies. It's not uncommon. If you have a healthy, low risk pregnancy, and baby isnt a abnormally large, I would assume they would wait to induce unless you're DD late or have complications. I was induced at 41 +2 with my first. Definitely something yo yall yo your dr about though, seems every dr/office is different.

I’m in the same position as you, normal blood pressure and I do not have GD either. I had a growth scan at 30 weeks due to my fundal height measuring big. He ended up being fine. I am currently 36 weeks and I am having another one on Wednesday to check his growth just in case and also his position because they think he’s flipped butt down. 😭 I will keep you posted if I happen to find out before you do. 😊

I wouldn’t suggest induction unless medically necessary the size can be wrong +2 or -2 lbs so don’t let them force induction due to size women have pushed out large babies good luck I hope you get to see babies face as it gets farther it gets a little harder to get the face
