Is 12 old enough to be left alone in Texas?

What’s the age legally they can stay home alone for a few hours or whatnot. Also what age can they with other kids is it like 16 babysitting age? I live in Texas

There's no age requirement for texas. In my state its 6 apparently. The rule of thumb is when they are old enough to memorize your number, know emergency numbers, and know what to do in case of an emergency

I was 11 when I started staying home and babysitting my little sisters the police station told my mom there really wasn’t an age limit it just depends on how mature the child is and prepared if emergency happens my parents got me CPR certified by the Red Cross when I turned 12 to be safe. I was babysitting all the kids in the neighborhood by than and started getting paid at a daycare when I was 13
