Newborn and a puppy?!

Question

My husband desperately wants a dog. He’s been looking at shelters to adopt and we went to see some adorable puppies last night. I want to say yes to rescuing a puppy, however we have a two month old baby, and I’ve already got my work cut out for me!! He says he’s going to take care of the dog when he’s home, but that I should use my mat leave to help train the dog while I’m at home from work. 
What do we think? Should I go for it? Any other new mamas with puppies that have any opinions/advice?

Nope! There’s no way I would want to take on training and caring for a puppy and a newborn at the same time!

A puppy is a lot of work. U gotta walk every few hours if u dont want any mess in the house, but if u got a big garden then you could just let it out that way. You would have to train it still tho, walking on leash, and all the other commands, also all the puppies ive met have been hyper, biting when they are lil is also common, youd have to be careful and watch the interactions. Trust me if u gotta wake up to feed your baby in the middle of the night, and then the dog has an incident and that happens multiple times in one week or so, its gonna drive you mental, especially if your husband doesnt help. Dont get me wrong, having a child grow up with a pup is great, they would bond and it teaches your child many many positive things, but i think you should wait till your newborn is a toddler atleast, before u get a pup. If u dont have any dog experience, you will be overwhelmed.
( before people become mean to me, i own two dogs and have owned dogs before, so i know they are a lot of work but rewarding aswell. )

I’ve had babies and puppies at the same time before. They are both a lot of work and takes a lot of extra attention but they grew up together and now the baby and dog are best friends!!!

Its a lot of work! My husband adopted a stray recently and swore up and down he was gonna take care of it. Hes only fed her twice since weve had her and he moans and groans if i ever ask him to take her on walks. Its possible but it will be difficult and house training is not easy so there will be messes you will have to clean up while also taking care of baby. (And i feed the dog lol i phrased it as if shes only eaten twice)

Do you wanna? Personally I couldn't do it. A baby is plenty work for me and I wouldn't want a dog before my baby can do more on her own. Keeping a dog occupied and go for walks several times a day.... I wouldn't know where the fuck to find that time. I can hardly feed myself during the day.

So hes going to be the one taking care of it, yet your training it since your on leave? Lol no. Wait a bit on the dog. A new baby is enough to handle without added stress of training and housebreaking a puppy
