Am I pushing too hard?

We've almost been together a year and a half, no break no break ups, definitely arguments but we've been together solid. We also live together, have for almost a year now. I told him I loved him after about 6 months, he still has yet to say it to me... Should I ask him if he does love me or is that to straight forward? I just don't want to be wasting time thinking we have a future together if he doesn't feel the same. In the beginning I thought he did but as time goes on I feel more like a roommate than a girlfriend, thinking he really doesn't love me. Help, do I push it, leave it lay or head for the hills? Lol.
