Any FTM adjusted? 😫😫😫

My LO is 12 weeks but I’m still overwhelmed and can’t seem to have adjusted to normal life. My whole day goes around his schedule, if he’s not sleeping I have to entertain him. Going outside is too hot! My brain is like a scrambled egg, all messy and melted.

I liked the Glow daily article today about being a first time mom and realising later that there's no need to entertain the baby all the time and that it is possible and fine to let them be on their own a little. I always have the feeling that our son will start crying if I leave him be for a bit, and I think that it is exactly this tiptoeing around him at all times and the feeling that I will need to respond to his crying any minute now that is the most tiring.
We have started to try taking it easier on ourselves as parents in this regard - e.g. putting the baby down for some floor time more often. 
It helped me to see moms with more children and how they go about caring their babies - it seemed more relaxed (although I believe it is partly an illusion on my part). But perhaps as first time moms we also cling more to our babies and find it harder to put them down and leave them be - still close and around, but not taking 100% of our time and attention. At least I recognized that in myself.

As a second time mom I can say that adjusting the first time is so hard. Your learning to be a mom. Once baby is sleeping through the night it gets easier but still restricted due to naps. I didn’t feel “free” until my son dropped his nap after turning 2. But now I’m doing it again and now I have zero time to myself. 😭 lol so hard. Just I know it’s temporary and trying to enjoy them. I’d just like a second to drink some water maybe... 🤪

I know that this doesn’t work for everything but i think the best advice i ever got is “forget the schedule!” 
I have 3 kids (3y, 2y and 3 month old) and i feel like we would never get anything done if we stuck to a strict schedule. My kids have learned to nap on the go and be flexible. 
Right now my older two kids go to daycare while im in class and or studying or at work and my baby goes to gradma’s when im in school or work but she goes with me to study and has done this since day one lol. 
I have a k’tan carrier and she naps in there while i take a test or do my homework. 
Dont stop living your life. I remember feeling like that when i had my first but after having my second and now third, i realized that baby will adjust to anything and so can i. Throw your baby in a carrier and go about your day! Try to normalize your day as much as possible.

Me too girl! I’m starting to think this is just the new normal. It’s hard to do the simplest things now. I find that waiting until I have help on the weekends is easiest, although it throws her schedule off immensely 🤦🏼‍♀️

I definitely hear what you're saying. It's a constant eat, play, sleep cycle because they're still too little for much else. I feel the same as far as not being able to go out too often with my son because if it wasn't crazy hot & sunny..it's too cold, rainy & windy. It makes it hard to just..fully enjoy this time. I still never know when he will eat, so planning things so he doesn't go hungry in the car, or whatever, at certain times is hard. I am not a ftm, but sometimes it's a little harder because I have 2 school-aged daughters that need to be up & out at a specific time 5 days a week. So very often I have to wake my son out of a good sleep, pop him in the carseat & head out. I still feel like I'm adjusting, although I've got most things down..it's hard to completely adjust.

I really struggled to adjust as a older FTM I was set in my ways. I truly hated every moment and little by little things got easier and then it started to feel normal. Now my little is 11 weeks and I’m loving my new life. I can’t believe how lucky I am to have my beautiful baby. If she doesn’t nap when we are out it’s no worry. I just go with the flow.
