Crazy Birth due to MIL

Story time ladies, grab your popcorn!

So I am having my first baby, little girl to be exact and hubby and I have the birth plan. Midwife, doula, and husband during the birth. Just us time. Then, once we were ready, we would invite others to the birth center to meet our sweetheart.

So the day comes....a week early. DH, MIL, and I were going to have lunch that day, but birth trumps that a bit so we cancelled. I begged DH not to tell MIL that I was in labor (she is a pushy woman and was not happy about the birth plan. She wanted to be in the room while I was giving birth!)

He did anyways and told me it wouldn’t be a big deal.

So we make to the birth center and get all settled in. I’m in the tub, doula on the side helping with contractions and midwife was elsewhere as everything was going well.

Someone taps on the door, thinking it is the midwife, we call them in.

Ohhhhh nooo it’s my MIL, DIL, and the whole family! Including my 10 year old nephew! I’m naked despite the black tube top covering my breasts. My MIL sees me and says, “oh honey, you need to cover up!”

I flash devil eyes at my husband who ushers them out to the waiting room. My sweet doula offers kind words to calm me, but I was fuming. A few contractions later and I have moved on despite my husband not being back yet.

So I move from the tub to the yoga ball (wearing a maxi skirt) because I felt the need to stretch things out. It’s been about an hour so I ask my doula to grab my husband while the midwife is checking my vitals.

Husband and doula come back in as he apologizes profusely. I move past it quick as my contractions are strengthening.

So things are moving quickly now, midwife, hubby, doula, and I are preparing for the arrival when there is a tap at the door. Someone peeks there head in for a moment and my husband is at the door speaking with them. GUESS WHAT! It’s my MIL asking when the baby will be here because the young cousins are getting antsy.

I just roll my eyes and try to keep my focus. Somehow she ends up in the room talking to my husband in the corner. I refuse to yell at her to leave (yet), but I do tell my husband I need him in hopes that she will leave. I was wrong.

Now my MIL is standing at the edge of the bed asking MY MIDWIFE a bunch of questions.

Midwife can feel the head and asks if I want to. I reach down and feel my sweet baby’s head. As I begin to reposition my MIL says, “I want to feel!” And begins to reach for my VAGINA!!!!!!!

My amazing midwife slaps her hand and says, “I think you need to leave now. My patient doesn’t want you here and you are getting in my way.”

My MIL gets this shocked look on her face and just stands there.

My amazing husband then says, “yeah mom, you should take the family and go. We went over what we wanted and would appreciate if you would respect our wishes.”

So she left and everything else went smoothly. We invited them all back once we were ready and she apologized for not respecting our wishes.

Everything is all good now, but in the moment, geezzzz hahaha
