Just wanting to hear opinions from my peers.

Male and female (along with intersex) are sexes. It’s important for them to be classified for medical and identification purposes. It’s perfectly acceptable for the government to require parents to fill out forms accurately. 
Gender is separate, and the parents are still perfectly free to raise their baby without an assigned gender identity and/or outside of typical gender roles.

Gender is different than sex. It’s important to know sex, sorry. So yeah male female is important and not a social construct.

I don't really care tbh. It has zero effect on my life.
As for our home, their birth certificate will say what gender they come out of me as.
If they tell me their something else at a later date, I'll fully respect and support them.
My life isn't defined by the actions of other parents.

I think we're so focused on being gender inclusive that we're forgetting there's a difference between gender and sex.

Whether they like it or not, their child has a biological sex, and it was acknowledged by the government. There’s no “assignment”, it’s a fact that the baby had either a vagina or a penis.

I think you should raise your child with the gender they are born with until they are old enough and competent enough to tell you otherwise 🤷🏼‍♀️ I think raising your child with no gender will only cause confusion and and major identity issues

But the baby IS a sex and as of now doesn't have a self actualized gender.  It's fine if they want to raise them nuteral and allow them to chose their gender but I don't see how denying the sex on medical docs does anything. Just allow your child to identify themselves and if they would like to change it they can.

Why does it need to be specified on that document? It doesn't really need to be. 
While I fully affirm & will respect any or no gender someone wants to identify as, I don't think it's necessary to wipe your childs life clean of the influence of the concept of gender until they decide what they might be? 
I think we have a gender identity crisis in our culture & we're rethinking what it means to be male or female, we're unfortunately still forgetting about intersex individuals.... but we shouldn't.... 
Gender is complicated, and it can really effect your identity and self concept, but I think focusing way too much on gender is not exactly the best strategy? It feels like, to try to eliminate it as an influence is overkill... and eventually, it will be an influence. 
My parents raised me in a gender neutral type of way for the 90s, and I think that's enough. Just letting your kid be who they are, like what they like & listening to them if they're ever confused about their identity.

I don’t really care...? I highly doubt this will have much of an impact if the parents are set on raising their child in a gender neutral environment.

Gender and sex do not need to be identified on birth certificates at all. The only time sex should be identifed is with a healthcare provider.
