Step son hates me

Every time I tell my step son who is 9 to do the smallest things he lashes out on me and says he hates me. It’s the littlest things for example I asked him to fix his collar for school and he went on a rant about how my husbands ex never made him do anything and how he hates me for making him do things😅 all I did was ask him to fix his shirt. It’s every day with the smallest things. Does he really hate me?
