Reflux worse when bf?

Question

Does anyone have a baby with reflux who is bf and formula supplemented? My baby seems to have worse reflux when I bf her, and she seems better when I give her a bottle. I thought it would be the opposite so I find it strange. I've started a dairy free diet yesterday to see if that's the reason, but has anyone had this happen before??

It’s probably the food you eat. Cut off different foods and see what helps.

They say that breastfeeding is better in reflux babies since breast milk can act as a natural stomach acid reducer and it’s much easier to digest. Studies have also shown that reflux will last a shorter amount of time in breast fed babies. My first two had reflux with my first having a very severe case. I supplemented with formula and saw a noticeable difference when she had formula. The formula definitely made it worse for her. It could be something in your diet. I noticed that certain foods would exasperate their symptoms. I even tried cutting out dairy but I noticed it was anything I ate that was spicy or fatty that made it worse.

No advice really, just remember that it can take a full 14days for dairy to leave your system, and first then you might see a difference in baby, if it's dairy that's the problem.
