MIL Vaccines

Emilee

Hey, ladies,

My mother in law is staying with us for the next three months (she lives in another country) to help us take care of our little girl.

She went to the doctor before she came and said that the doctor refused to give her the tDap vaccine because she is 65, so there is nothing we can do about that vaccine. Now, we have asked her to take the flu shot because it is bad around here, plus both my husband and I are teachers and have already had our flu shots. She said that the last time she took it (several years ago), she got very sick and is refusing to take it. My husband has tried talking to her, but she really does not want to take it.

She will be around my baby every day for the next three months and I am worried about her having NONE of the recommended vaccines. Am I over reacting, or do we need to try to get her to take the flu shot? Have any of you run into this situation and what did you do?
