Do you think animal activist groups take it too far?

Question

Animal activist groups are bigger than ever. It is now against Facebook policy to post any animals for sale on Facebook. Videos of farm animals just hanging out eating are being marked as sensitive or disturbing content. Farmers are being approached and threatened and animals are being released. 
Whats your stance on it? I’d love to hear all sides of this. Vegans. Meat eaters. Animal rights activists.

just seems crazy to me the amount of racist, hateful, transphobic, homophobic, sexist violent crap that i see on facebook yet they draw the line at a puppy playing with some pigs? talk about arse backwards

I think every group with a set of certain beliefs can go too far. There is a difference between fighting for fair treatment of farm animals and attacking farmers. They’re hurting their own cause because the more aggressive and unreasonable they get the less likely they are to be taken seriously.

It's weird. Sometimes the inner activist in me goes a bit nutty. 
For example, there's a caged egg farm near where I live, I have to drive past it. 
Anyway sometimes I get this little picture of the helpless chickens stuck in cages, bald and in poor conditions. I just want to walk up to their door and tell them off and explain the level of depravity they are keeping these chickens in. 
I genuinely think some farmers are sadistic sociopaths. The level of cruelty that goes on in these places would make anyone's hair stand on end. 
Sometimes yes, the activists go overboard. Sometimes the farmers deserve it with the way they treat animals.

Attacking hard working people that not only grow "meat" Also give us our milk that goes into everything else that these people eat.. .. I mean I'm sure they go as far as boycotting cows milk and don't eat any type of dairy because of their beliefs but still all this is so dumb.... Why can't people mind their own business.... Literally.... Leave the small town year round working man alone...

Some are yes. I recently saw a story of an activist breaking unto a rabbit farm and "saving" like 30 rabbits. Int he process she caused the direct and indirect deaths of around 100+ other rabbits (trampled on them as she fled, rabbits hurt themselves in the panic, she took both mothers of nursing young, took babies but no mother, etc).
I also have an instance of driving down the road towards home one day and seeing a weirdly high amount of bird carcasses littered along the road. Come to find out from security cameras, a woman had snuck onto my land and let all my chickens out of their dlsafe coop. They were immediatly hit by cars and eaten by dogs and wolves in the area. When she was caught, she said she was saving them from being raped into making more chicks. We dont even have a rooster, they were all hens. They also were my child's friends. He loved them like his best friends. They were kept safe in a coop and allowed to roam and none were used for meat. When they died from age, we buried them with a ceremony. They were in no way in danger, or being raped by a rooster. She caused the death of our 14 chickens with her "activism."

I think it depends on how the animals on the farm are being raised and treated. I am against factory farming and I do think it’s harmful to the animals, the environment, etc. but I have no problem with local family owned farms and farmers that allow free range and treat their animals well. I could see animal activists going further about factory farming than a small family owned farm. However, I also think that even if you are an activist that doesn’t give you the right to bash someone else, vandalize or steal their things, or act in other ways that are violent and unnecessary, so yes I do think animal activists sometimes take things too far.

I love animals and I love to eat them as well. Humans are meant to eat other animals. If we never did we probably wouldn’t have survived as a species. That’s not to say anything against vegans. My husband is a vegan. He’s vegan for health reasons and not because he thinks animals shouldn’t be food. 
With that said, I do think some animal activists take it too far. It’s unfortunate the content of animals on social media is being removed. I think far too many people are far too sensitive about things that are really not a big deal.

Certain groups are a bit extreme, but let's be frank that you'll always get the extreme ones.
But generally speaking, no. 
Even if they do take it a little further than we're comfortable with, that's not a bad thing. I think a lot of people are in denial about the animal abuse going on.

Factory farming may be bad, but peta goes overboard. Animal activists refusing to use leather contributes to the amount of plastic produced for substitutes in leather products. The leather is a byproduct of most animals killed for meat. I can’t argue for exotic leathers and such, but cow, pig, sheep etc leather comes as a byproduct, which makes good, sustainable, long-lasting use of what would otherwise become trash. We can’t stop people from eating meat or killing animals, but at least we can make something nice out of it.

Sometimes, yeah. I am a former vegan but I never did much activism. It’s not my thing. Both sets of my grandparents were raised on farms. I don’t understand why they’d mess with farms. I don’t really have an issue with it being against facebooks rules to sell animals through there. Farm animal photos being marked as sensitive is weird and stupid lol. Of course threatening farmers is wrong. Releasing animals is actually really dangerous and harmful for the animals. Why tf would they do that
