How do you know for sure?

I need some help, please, mommas. 
How do you know for SURE that your child is teething? 
My son is 6 months old and I'm pretty sure he has been teething for about a month. 
He chews on absolutely everything, his drooling is out of this world, he is spitting up more, and now he is starting to wake up and scream for a second at night, but doesnt wake up all the way. And on the nights he does wake up, its every hour. This isnt normal for him, he has slept through the night since 2 months.
 He is also super bipolar now lol one second he is smiling and yapping to me and the next he is pissed. The only thing that seems to help is something ice cold. 
I dont see or feel anything when I touch his gums. 
Does this sound like I should be seeing teeth soon or could this just be normal growing pains? At what point do I give him tylenol?

It sounds like teething! Please don’t give Orajel though. The FDA has banned this for use with kids under 2! It can cause very serious breathing issues

When you go to their Well Child Checkups you can ask about it and they’ll look at their mouth for you. 
But teething takes more than a week or so; they can teeth for months before they actually break through the gums.
Signs of teething are chopping on their hands, and other objects, redness in cheeks or ears, warmth in the cheeks or ears, pulling or digging in their ears (ear infections are common with teething), diarrhea can be a sign of teething, decrease in eating, trouble sleeping, or more / excess crying. 
Try freezing some milk and putting it in a cloth and letting them chomp on that, Tylenol if you want to to do meds, wash with a washcloth at the very least their gums; you can try brushing their gums and teeth. Orjel is okay to use just make sure it’s for infants, you could try massaging their gums with a teething toy as well

My son is 3 months and teething, we thought he was because diarrhea and drooling but he recently has been more fussy and chewing on his hands and toys. So, that was a for sure sign for me. Give your baby some Oragel (however you spell it) and see if that works. You can give Tylenol 3 or 5 times a day. Personally, I would try gripe water or the gum stuff before I go straight to tylenol
