Pregnancy Prevention

My husband and I were trying to do natural family planning and I was very diligent with taking my temperature, tracking everything, abstaining when we were supposed to, for about 6 months.

Then I got pregnant with my son. Who is a wonderful accident and we are so happy to have him. And he is a happy and healthy baby now.

But, I have fibroids and didn’t know it until I was pregnant with him. This caused multiple problems during the pregnancy and ultimately ended up having to have an emergency csection at 26 weeks pregnant because I was hemorrhaging so badly they thought I was going to lose my son and I was at risk for bleeding out myself.

Fast forward to after I healed and I was at my post delivery follow up. My doctors are warning me that if I get pregnant again before dealing with these fibroids it will be a very dangerous situation. I could lose the baby or I could be at risk to bleed out. So they want me to be extremely careful. This is making me paranoid about having sex with my husband so we have turned to condoms.

So basically my question is if it’s a medical problem to get pregnant what forms of birth control are okay according to the church?

When we tried to ask our priest this question he was kinda flustered and gave us information to talk to someone else about natural family planning and said he would have to look into this for us.

Has anyone else have had a similar situation? If so what have you done to prevent pregnancy?

Note: I am currently looking for a good specialist to treat and remove my fibroids. I need to make sure whoever does it is reliable because if they mess it up I may never be able to have children again.
