In law rant?

I have very good in laws. Sometimes I come on here to read how bad everyone else has it. Lol
But they live 3 hours away and since LO was born they want to visit much more often. So this weekend they’re here sat-sun. Well that means I can’t plan anything for sat bc I never know when they’re arriving. And then when they do get here I need activities on hand or else they just watch Lo like she’s a zoo animal. 
Yesterday I put her on the floor so I can make her lunch and they sit on the sofa. My SO comes in the kitchen and I’m like ‘get back in there, is LO okay?’ 
him: ‘oh yeah they’re watching her’
Me: ‘they’re four feet away, what happens if she starts to fall over?’ Which she still does a lot btw. 
Also they brought her electronic instruments. Lol. Pretty sure my SO will be taking out the batteries after they leave. 
I just want them to sit and play with her on the floor.  Talk to her. Read to her. I guess some people just aren’t great with babies.  At least they’re trying on their own way. 
Tomorrow we’ll go to the pumpkin farm and then they’ll be activities.

I'm sure it sounds rude saying this, but the way I see it is.. if people aren't going to help out when they visit, they shouldn't just invite themselves up all the time. My in-laws are divorced and so I get my MIL and FIL visiting on different weekends. It's frustrating because on one hand my MIL brings shit tons of gifts, steals the baby away the entire time but I have to clean up after her and spend his naps entertaining her.
My FIL and his wife on the other hand, show up and barely even hold the baby. Expect us to entertain, feed and clean up after them. 
I dunno, I guess now that I have a baby I feel that if you're going to stay at my house overnight and invite yourself over, please take my baby for a while or offer to help out. Otherwise it's frustrating losing an entire weekend I could spend with hubby just to accommodate guests and have an extra work load. Hubby works late all week and weekends are our reconnect times.

I also don't have bad in laws and probably shouldn't complain because I know some people have it much worse. However, my MIL drives me pretty crazy. She lives 20 minutes from us and has seen the baby once in the last two months. And we had to go to her. They are both retired. This wouldn't bother me except then when she does see him it's this whole song and dance of, "he's so big, I'm so sad, I don't see him enough, I'm missing everything..." Well, figure it out... So I'm in the same boat. Nothing terrible but annoying enough. There's also quite a bit of history that contributes to my frustration and lack of willingness to be overly accommodating.

That no time in the near future you have to know what it's like to not have Grandparents that care about your child. It's the WORST thing for a momma to not have ANYONE who cares what tour child does and when they learn something new. It breaks Your heart when there is no one to care. Don't judge them by the "idea" of how grands should be in your head or what you had growing 
Up. There are 100's Of different kinds of grandparents. I just wish my babies had ANY that cared about ANYTHING they did. You're lucky, please learn to be appreciative of what THEY do and not what they don't.

Until I had kids I didn't realize how people are so weird about babies. Some love the infant stage and can't cope when kids are older. Others love the toddler stage etc. 
Definitely tell them to abide by toy age ranges. 
But honestly it's ok to entertain them and then take batteries out or put the toy away when they leave.
