Gate?

Je

Poll question: Do you think having a gate at the end of your driveway would encourage or discourage break ins?

Context (optional)

Our house is in a very rural area but is visible from the road. It was broken into and things were taken on three separate occasions while we were in the process of renovating, all this happened last year before we moved in. We even put up no hunting/trespassing signs on our fence and they were stolen too. 🤦‍♀️

My husband comes home from work for lunch everyday and sometimes goes back in the night to check on things at work. It would be difficult to keep the gate closed all the time while we are at home. So we are thinking that if we have a gate and certain people notice it’s been closed for several days in a row, they would know we are gone and possibly rob us again. It would be like advertising we are gone.

But not having a gate at all feels like an open invitation. 🤷‍♀️

Below is a picture of part of my driveway. Not the best picture for the discussion but it’s the only one I could find at the moment.
