My twin girls were due on May 26th 2019. My water broke April 1st when I got up from my nap to use the bathroom. I called my Doctors office as well as Labor and Delivery. I was admitted to the hospital and placed on a liquid diet while they tried to stop my contractions. I was only a centimeter dialated. I still had enough fluid around Baby A(the water that broke and sent me to the hospital) and Baby B Sac was still in tact. On April 3rd around 1030pm I was 5 centimeters dialated. They were no longer trying to stop contractions as of 400pm. I decided to get epidural just in case the girls decided to make their rand entrance. My nurse said they probably wouldn’t come until the next day at the earliest 430am. Throughout the whole experience I felt NO contractions although they were showing to be off the charts (even before the epidural). The only pain I experienced during labor was horrible pains in my bottom whenever I was getting contractions (the worst pain ever). Around 3am on April 4th I called my nurse in and told her of my pain but I didn’t feel the need to push so she wanted to wait to check on my next rounds at 4am. The pain was unbearable and I cried. It seemed to be the longest he in my life. When she came back she checked and I was fully dilated. They began to call the NICU staff that would be assisting with delivery and calling the on call Dr since my Dr went on vacation a few days prior. As they pushed me into the operating room I began to get a little nervous because it was show time. My wife was with me the entire time and was a great support system. I had to wait about 45 minutes for the Dr to get there and I felt as if I would not be able to hold my babies in. Everyone was staring and telling me to hold on a little longer but I needed to push. When the Dr finally arrived I told her I was ready to push but nothing was happening. my bottom still hurt with every contraction and she gave me a local anesthetic which puckered me up and took away all pain. After three attempts at pushing I could feel my baby crowning and I clenched up. The Dr said if you can get her head out I can assist with the rest. On the next push I delivered my baby girl with no help and no epidural because it had worn off and I was now a mama. Raelynn Eliza weighed 4lbs 7oz. The Dr began to try and turn baby B because she was still transverse(across my belly) after trying for 10 minutes she decided to turn into the breech position. Using to Dr.s she didn’t want to turn anymore and the Dr said we would have to do a c section for baby B. They tried giving me more epidural and my body wouldn’t numb. We did a spinal and same results. After 25 minutes of pumping me with medications I finally began to get numb. The procedure began and next thing you know Gabriella Delores was born weighing 4lbs 11oz. Both my girls were now here and it finally hit me that I was a mom. I wasn’t able to see them right away due to 1 hr recovery and moving to my new room. I begged my nurse to let me go and see them and after about 3 hrs I was in the NICU visiting my babies. They are now 61/2 months old. Both babies are healthy and huge. Baby A spent 2 weeks in the NICU and Baby B spent 2 1/2 weeks in the NICU. Although they were born at 32 wks and 5 days they were strong fighters and I couldn’t have been happier.
