Do you shake or swirl formula?

I’ve been breastfeeding up until now & I know that when you warm a bottle of breast milk, you have to swirl it but the directions on the container of formula say to shake it. Which one do I do?

I breastfeed but I heard shaking introduces bubbles into the bottle and therefore gas into baby's gut.

You have to shake formula. It wont mix if you swirl it. Shaking breastmilk damages it so that's why you dont shake it but formula  absolutely has to be shaken

Shake. If you swirl it, it probably wouldn't mix properly and have chunks.

I always shook my sons formula and I believe I shook his breast milk as well. Never had any issues.

Swirl. My baby had bad gas and it was recommended to swirl to reduce the gas in it. When we shake her bottle it looked like a frothy latte so it made sense to us.

My son would have horrible gas if I shook the formula. I got the dr.browns pitcher and it works amazing. No air bubbles at all. If you're doing more than one bottle a day I would highly recommend it.
