Best laptop for college?

Question

I’m starting college in January and I’m looking for the best laptop to use for it based off experience. I’m not great with this kind of stuff, so any advice would be helpful. 🙂
This may not be the right group, but I coii UK lent find one related to this. 🙁

I just use an HP Chromebook. Although, I’ve had some issues with sending Google Docs. Like on the professors software, the format and layout would be kind of strange and all over the place, definitely not the way I made it. I just go to the computer lab on campus and make sure that everything looks ok before I submit it. If you want something to bring to class with you, I would suggest an iPad instead. I used to carry my Chromebook to classes with me and it would kill my shoulder and neck despite the Chromebook being so damn small because I use a purse. Maybe get a keyboard attachment so it’s easier to type.

Best laptop I ever bought was a $300 HP touch screen chrome book (11)! Did exactly what I needed and was easily portable for school. Amazing battery life as well. No mechanical issues whatsoever.
Just make sure you research and get something that is best suited for your needs. Don’t spend $1200 on a Mac just because it’s a “fad”. My little HP looked and operated just as a MacBook Air for a fourth of the price. I’ve had it for 3 years now and it still looks/operates as if I bought it yesterday.

i would recommend going to best buy or something since the best laptop depends on what you want out of it! the associates can help find the right fit and then you can go home and shop around for the best price. 
chromebooks are cheap and great for light work (notes, online research, etc.). they're super popular at local high schools bc they're honestly a great choice.
my bf doesn't take a laptop to class. he uses his ipad for notes. and has both a surface laptop (pc) and macbook air for coding assignments and work. he likes his pc with ubuntu more though. the macbook os mostly for his internship. if it's a heavy load though, he uses his desktop. 
i use a macbook pro since i don't like to have to deal with so many gadgets, and i like the integration between the rest of my products (ex. i can unlock my laptop with my watch). it's not anywhere near a gaming laptop, but it manages well enough with heavy loads. it's heavier than a typical uni laptop but i can use it for school and work, where i usually have animation programs running alongside 2D design programs.
