Sleep plan/advice for baby #2?

SB

Hey everyone! This is my second baby, due 12/8. My daughter will be 3 1/2 when the second arrives. With her, she slept (bed and naps) in our room, in the pack n play bassinet insert, the first couple of months, then the bed part of pack n play, then the dreaded transition to her crib/room inevitably, around 7 months old. Which she did not transition well to, ever, to this day. She never slept through the night regardless of where she was, either (literally a handful of times EVER.) so with that, and moving her to her own crib, and even now, a big girl bed, was a horrid experience, and still is today.

SO, with the second baby, I’m thinking of going directly to her room within a week home from the hospital (if not immediately..) I’m wondering what everyone who decided to go directly to the crib (or whatever sleeping device you used for your newborn, in their own room) did right from the get-go.. (where did you sleep, which beds/sleepers/dockatots, etc did you use that you felt were effective ..)

I’m hoping by starting her out in her room immediately from the hospital, to avoid sleep troubles, or habits to break (sleeping in our room..) like I had with my first baby. I will be nursing again, and want to be close by her, so I do intend to bunk in her room for a short time with her until I feel it’s safe and comfortable, then switch on the baby monitor and get back to my own bed... I’m definitely a lot more confident second time around so I’m hoping setting a plan like this and executing immediately ,will help with some sleeping issues I had and still have with my first born! I want the second one to know that “THIS IS WHERE YOU SLEEP”!!

Any suggestions, newborn bed / sleep accessories used, stories, advice, is greatly appreciated ! And best of luck to all you on this amazing journey ☀️
