Halloween Costume Fail!

Molly

So for a few months I have been really set on what my daughter and I were going to be this year. I was fully set on me being the old woman and her being the apple.

I thought, "wow how easy would that be!"

Well by the title it's pretty clear is was just not that easy....

So for me I went and bought a dress that I actually found at good will. It was in the Halloween section but I love it so much that I will probably be wearing it any chance I get!

The picture definitely doesn't give it justice! It has curves in all the right places, has sleeves that barely sit on my shoulder but won't fall, and the perfect hight for a v neckline!

I also ended up getting a large cape to go over top of it.

I got this in a Halloween Express. I had worked there for 4 years previously, and the manager who I have known forever still gave me my employee discount of 40% off!!!

So I after I had gotten this I had realize that I had pretty much everything I needed but I had nothing for my 10 month old daughter. I looked and looked but didnt find one apple costume. I asked my mom to look out for one since she's good at that kind of thing.

She couldn't find one either but sent me this on Facebook.

She suggested I take the face off of it and put it in some rit dye. I thought, "no problem!".

So I have been in the middle of a move for the last few days. Today (Halloween) we finally got into our new home. I didn't get a chance to start the apple untill the night before. It just so happen I also didn't get off until close. By the time I drove home it was already 9 pm. I worked and worked on taking the face off for hours. (I dont have the proper tools to do so) It was about midnight when I went to bed. I was so tired after my 12 hour shift I couldn't keep my eyes open. I decided to finish in the morning.

I got up about 8 am. I finished trying to get the face off at about 10 am. Then straight into the Rit dye it went. I kept turning it and moving it. After about 2 hours of it sitting in the dye I took a look at it.

It was still freaking orange!!! The dye didn't work want so ever!!

My boyfriend came home and found me crying. I was just so upset that I had waited so long to make Halloween happen. He was really sweet and talked to me. He reminded me that she's 10 month and she won't care or remember.

(Halloween to me has always been a huge deal in my family ever since I was born. My mom always made it extra special for me. My birthday is actually on Halloween. My mom went all out every year for me, and then my brother when I was little.)

I love my boyfriend but as sweet as he was I just felt guilty for things not being as perfect as my mom always made them.

My first thought was that she will just be a pumpkin. I couldn't get all the dye out so that wasn't going to work.

My mom came over to my house and gave me a hug. (She was helping me move) What she said to me fixed everything. "If anything else I have a zebra costume at home.

On my first birthday/Halloween where I wasn't busy being born, I was a zebra. My mom has every single costume I she ever bought me. She kept them all.

She brought the costume from her house to mine. My baby had a costume!

After 20 years of sitting in a closet it got to be used again by be beautiful little girl!

As for my costume I just decided to not wear the makeup and call myself a banshee.

This was my poor attempt at taking a photo myself.

But at the end of the day everything worked out!!
