Breast feeding & weight loss?

Is that really true? Had my baby last Friday gained 18lbs the entire pregnancy and now I lost 18lbs this week lol I’m not complaining just wondering if it’s probably from that??

I was thinking the same thing I had my daughter two weeks ago , I gained 19lbs and lost it right after I started breastfeeding... 😨

I gained 10lbs whilst pregnant and then lost 19lbs when I gave birth 😂 a few more babies and I'll be 'normal' weight lol

Sounds exactly like me! I too only gained 18 pounds and I’ve lost all but 2 pounds of it and my daughter is 8 days old.

I gained 31 pounds and lost about 25 in the first two weeks. My little guy was almost 9 lbs so I know that was a big part of it! Then by the time you count the weight of the placenta, extra blood, etc. it’s very easy to lose a lot of the weight before you even start losing weight from breastfeeding 🙌🏻

I gained a total of 11pounds in my pregnancy and I’ve lost 21! I’m losing my own weight too!

With my first baby I ended up 10 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight after a few weeks and stabilized there for a year until I partially weaned and went back to work. Then slowly crept back up to my original weight.
This time I'm 2 weeks postpartum and I'm 3lb over my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm definitely eating better this time, I was neglecting myself the first time around which led to faster than expected weight loss.

It takes more calories to breastfeed then it does to grow a baby! you can burn anywhere from 300-800 calories a day just to produce milk. So yes, it can help lose weight effortlessly if you’re not consuming too many extra calories

Not always, I've breastfed all 4 of my babies and its always took me about a year - 18 months to get back to pregnancy weight. And I never gained more than 20lbs with each pregnancy I also have a normal BMI. I think genetics  and hormones play a larger part than breastfeeding.
