Don’t know what to do

Me and my bf are expecting a baby in July. I pay daycare for my daughter 660 a month but my baby daddy has her during the week and drops her off at daycare and I have her weekends and after work. When should I tell him I’m pregnant and have to take maternity leave and may or may not get paid for it so he can prepare? I’m in California if there’s a paid maternity leave program? I can watch her while I’m on leave but there’s no guarantee her spot will be available later.
