When to potty train?

Question

My baby will be 18 months in March and my mom and a few others have told me that’s when I should start potty training him but in June we are traveling around Europe for 6 weeks then Canada for 3 weeks then we are going  to Pakistan for a year 
So my question is should I just wait until we get  to Pakistan (he will be two years by then) and we won’t be traveling as much or should I start  in March? 
And I guess any tips for traveling while potty training ?

Honestly it’s not about age it’s when there ready, 2 is extremely early.

I agree with previous poster. It's not about age that indicates when you should start. 18 months only a small percentage of toddlers are ready. Most kids are potty trained around 2/2.5 years old. 
Keep an eye on signs like:
•Pulling at a wet or dirty diaper.
•Hiding to pee or poop.
•Interest in others' use of the potty, or copying their behavior.
•Having a dry diaper for a longer-than-usual time.
•Awakening dry from a nap.
•Telling you that they're about to go, are going or have just gone in their diaper.

I think as long as your ready for the long process you should start now. You know your child best. It takes a lot of patience and time. If your committed to spending a few days at home to focus on the training I say go for it. My son will be 22 months at Xmas and we are starting on Xmas break, since I’ll be home for two weeks. We put him in underwear now when we are home for the day and get him to sit on the potty whenever we can without forcing him or making it a bad thing.

Be consistent is the important part od toilet learning. So if you can't  support consistency then wait til you can. Otherwise it could end up stressful and give LO anxiety.

I feel like at 22 months was a sweet spot for my son. He wasn’t saying “no” to everything yet and wasn’t as defiant. I don’t know about the traveling because I didn’t experience that so much, but it’s worth a try. You just have to really be able to commit to it when you do try. Totally up to you!

I literally just started this weekend with my son who will be 2.5 at the end of December. He’s doing really well, I can’t imagine doing it any sooner with him though but like other commenters said, it’s all about the kid and signs of readiness. I’ve read boys are mostly a bit later than girls.
