How long did it take for you to get over your EX and the long term relationship ??

My past relationship was awful. Mentally I had been out of it for months. I kept clinging on to it and hoping we could fix it, but he just created more distance to me day by day.
So I cried, I cried and I cried and then I was relieved. I was out of it. Finally!
And when I fell in love shortly after I realized I had been mentally out of that relationship for so long that I had no problem looking for someone else.

I dated a guy a few years ago for a year and a half about.  It took me three years to get over him.  And then I dated someone for two years and I was over it in about 4 months.  It depends on the situation I believe.

I don’t think there’s an appropriate timeframe for getting over an ex. When it happens, it just happens. 
My husband is my ex lol. We married young and it just didn’t work. It take me long to get over him. Maybe a month... if that. We had issues and those were worse than trying to get over him. Once I was done, I meant it. We got back together 3 years after we divorced and have been together since. We will celebrate 8 years of marriage this coming March.

My relationships tend not to last all that long, never "long term"- but my most close relationships were the last two.
It took me about 5 months to get over my last ex, I basically re-realized he was entirely full of shit and playing games (he's a narcissist or sociopath, he's not a good person, he lied about everything, and he lied more after I left to basically lead me on and who knows why, but when it was clear to me, my feelings for him actually completely disappeared and I don't have any feeling regarding him but anger. I don't love him, I don't feel like I ever knew him. He's a stranger. He is dangerous. I want nothing to do with him.) The relationship was about 4 months official, living together, we were involved with each other as fwb for several months before being official. 
My ex before him was an emotionally abusive narcissist as well, he was my first love. We were on and off fwb for 8 years before dating, I knew him as a friend before that, the relationship was really unclear for all those years and yup there were red flags basically all over 🙃
We dated officially for 8 months after he coerced me into "giving him a real chance". 4 months were really good, 4 months were like living in absolute hell. He bought me a ring and we were planning to buy a house & get married. 
I still love that asshole & I am not completely over it. Sometimes I really miss him, I don't think he wanted to be so abusive, but the fact is he cannot help it. I'm extremely glad I'm not in that relationship, I am with someone so much better, and I am not even attracted to my ex anymore, because of what he did to me. Particularly sexual coercion, my ex disgusts me due to that. It's weird cuz I still have caring feelings for him or miss him. It is a year and a half later. I wish we could be friends but he is too manipulative. 
So I wish him the best & hope he changes in therapy like he says he has. But he has lost me forever. 
Usually I don't get over people fast at all, I usually love them for years. But the love sort of changes to be more platonic.
