High needs baby: what happened when you went to work

I'm a mom of a six month old high needs baby. He wakes up multiple times at night sometimes crying and demanding to be held and nursed. He wakes up at the lightest sound and anytime we are with him we have to be holding him and talking to him or doing something to engage him. Leaving him alone with toys lasts about five minutes. I'm about to go back to work soon and am wondering how other high needs babies reacted to being away from their mothers for 12 hours a day
