Progesterone injection fear UPDATE
So my retrieval is tomorrow (eek!) and then I start the progesterone injections Friday night. I am TERRIFIED of that intramuscular needle. My
nurse said to put ice on the area before, and massage with a warm cloth after and walk around for at least 5 minutes.
Does anyone else have good advice to add? How badly did the shot hurt for you?
Supposedly they are drawing circles on me while I’m under tomorrow so we know where they go. She told me my husband needs to “shoot it like a dart.” I’m so nervous he will hesitate and it will be that much worse.
Update: thank you for all your advice! Last night was the first one. I didn’t ice. I warmed the injection under my armpit for about 10 minutes, and then afterwards my husband rubbed my side with a damp, warm towel. Then I used one of those microwaveable rice things. I also walked around for about 5 minutes. I don’t feel it much today! The injection wasn’t bad either, just a twinge when my husband went to check for blood. I did use some Dr. Numb we had from when my husband got his rib tattoo, but I’m not sure how much it did.
