Are you seeing a gastro? I was diagnosed officially about 8 years ago, however throughout my 20s I would flareup and before I could get officially diagnosed the flareup would subside. I had my worst flareups about 5 years ago and I started very strictly following something called the Specific Carbohydrate Diets (SCD) which helped tremendously. I also cut out night shade vegetables, especially tomatoes, since they are foods that cause inflammation. I was able to get off my meds eventually, and really haven't had a flareup since. But I stay away from foods that I was able to figure out destroy my stomach, like tomatoes and other certain night shades. Good luck to you! I understand how uncomfortable UC is. Sometimes it can be completely debilitating.

Diagnosed when I was 11! Mine got so bad I ended up having to have a full colectomy and have had iliostomy bags. But I am now ostomy free and on no medications! So it honestly just depends on the severity of the disease
