It’s probably time to share!

Kristen

My daughter is 12 weeks 2 days today, so now that things have slowed and we’ve established a routine, I’ll share our story ❤️

My pregnancy with my first, was a breeze. Literally the easiest and it made me wonder why people

Complained so much about being pregnant. This time, HAHAHA.

I had a shirt cervix the entire time. At 26 weeks I went into labor, but it was stopped thankfully. At that time I was given steroid and surfactant shots. I was out on bedrest. Several weeks later, I was seen again and because my cervix has lengthened some I was allowed off of bedrest. My doctor had also said it did no good to be on BR anyways, if baby was coming it didn’t matter what I did. So fast forward a week, I started feeling like absolute crap. I spent my days at my in-laws house laying around because I thought I was getting sick, and MIL watched my daughter while I slept. That Thursday I felt better, had some energy, so we stayed home and I power cleaned my house. (Or tried rather)... Around 2-3 that day I began having Braxton Hicks pretty frequently but it wasn’t painful and it wasn’t long lasting. I kept cleaning through them. When SO finally got home from work they were beginning to get a little worse and I was exhausted and starving. I didn’t want to cook, so we went to KFC for a quick meal. While sitting inside eating, I went from feeling “eh” to tears. I called my MIL to see if she was home, to drop off our daughter to go to our small community hospital to be checked. We had been going to a large university hospital about an hour and 15 minutes or so away because I was high risk. We pull into my in-laws and I immediately jump out of the car and throw up in their lawn. I kissed my daughter and we pull out. We were at the hospital in less than 10 minutes, walk in, check in, taken upstairs to L&D. Once hooked up to monitors, I was having consistent contractions 2 minutes apart. They called my high risk doc, who said to keep me where i was, we were having a baby. I was given two shots to slow contractions, in attempt to keep her in for another day. I labored very easily. I slept on and off throughout that night, and was laboring hard y the next day. At around 3, it was time for an epidural. I got it and felt great. I was checked at 6pm and was at a 7. That’s when it happened. My epidural QUIT. It completely stopped working. The anesthesiologist cane back to adjust some things, and had my nurse checked me again. I was then at a 9-9.5!! He adjusted my meds and said it would take 20 or so minutes to work. By that time it was 6:30. I was in tears, I couldn’t hear anything, I was so in my own head. I felt the worst pressure and knew I needed to push. With each contraction (about 25-30 seconds apart at this point, my body began doing its own thing).. my MIL ran to get my nurse. She checked me and said “hang in there girl, baby’s head is right here- I’m going to the door to get Kal.” My doctor is a friend, again- small town... My doctor care running in, half dressed, my bed dropped as she finished dressing, and she was down and ready. In three minutes my daughter was born. Screaming, kicking, breathing. Beautiful, and healthy, at 5 1/2 weeks early. Perfectly healthy. Thank god!! She had a 6 day hospital stay, no NICU. She was jaundice but other than that ZERO complications!

6.3lbs, 19 inches, EJ was born on 8/16!

UPDATE: wow the typos! I was emotional typing this so please excuse them! Also, I left a lot of details out about my pregnancy, complications, and L&D, and our hospital stay. However, if you have any questions please message or comment!
