I really didn’t think I would go into labor this soon

Miranda
I really didn’t think I would go into labor this soon. I was only 39+2. Here’s the quick version: My labor started around 10:30pm last night while we were still playing cards for my dads birthday party lol.  So I called the midwives and they said if it was real labor, I’d have to go to the Houston office, because they had already moved out of the old Beaumont office, and the new Beaumont office wasn’t ready, but they were all hoping it wasn’t real, because the head midwife was currently at a birth, and the other midwife was sleeping, because she had delivered babies 2 nights in a row.  And the third midwife was off call or out of state or something. So because we had to go all the way to Houston instead of Beaumont, we went ahead and packed up quickly to drive the 2 hours, because I really felt like it was the real deal. They were strong and consistent every 7 minutes. I felt like I was gonna have the baby in the truck on the way there, to the point where I was actually nervous about it. Well when we got there the only available midwife (the one that was sleeping) checked me and she said that I was only 1-2 cm and still had a thick cervix, so she told me I wasn’t going to have my baby tonight and that she highly recommended that I go home and get in a hot bath to try and calm my uterus. I was like I really don’t think this is false labor, this is exactly how it started with Marley and these contractions are pretty intense. And she was just not convinced I was even in labor at all. It was about 3:30am at this point and I was soooo tired that I was just like okay I’m gonna go to our townhouse in Baytown, because we couldn’t stay there, and try to sleep because I could barely hold my eyes open. Bc while I was there things did slow down a lot. They went from 4 mins apart to 10 mins apart. Then in the truck on the way home they picked back up again and were even more intense about 7 minutes apart if I had to guess (I wasn’t timing at this point) and I was moaning through them. Well got to the townhouse and I was freezing and exhausted so I decided that if this baby was really coming, she was gonna be born here and I was at the point where I knew we could handle it if the midwife didn’t make it on time. Which is exactly what happened, because we laid down and tried to sleep, but they just kept coming. So I got up and got in the bathtub and did that for a while, which helped because I was so cold. Then as soon as I got out, I could tell I was getting pretty close. So at that point, hubby woke up and I told him to get ready, and we texted the midwives saying I’m about to start pushing and it just escalated from there. He caught her and in 3 pushes she was out. My water didn’t break til after the first push
