Do cats enjoy the company of other cats?

We got a cat in September and she’s almost 1.5 years old. We both work full time and are worried she gets bored or lonely during the day. She has lots of cat toys, a cat tower, and window hammock, but we are wondering if she could benefit from another cat to keep her company?

If you do get another cat, get a kitten, cats adjust much better to a new cat in “their” space if it’s a baby then a full grown adult.

Depends on the cats, personally my two girls don’t particularly like each other. But one of my girls and my sisters male cat were very close when they lived with us, they LOVED each other. So maybe try a boy kitty? As long as one of them is fixed. Either way it just depends, in my case girls don’t like each other lmao.

idk. i said yes because it does depend. i had one cat for years who was just the main alpha and loved being alone. 
now i’m with two cats (siblings) and the girl (Ruby) can’t stand her brother (but that’s cause he’s trying to hump her, don’t worry we’re getting them fixed) but still 
they can’t stand each other and their siblings lmao (ironically) but we got Spooky first and then we felt like he was lonely and who better to get another cat than his sister yknow ?

If you do get another cat, I would get a kitten and maybe the opposite gender. When we got our kitten they suggested getting the opposite gender because they tend to adjust better. As long as both of them are fixed!

Depends on the cat. I got my cat when she was an adult (they said 1.5, but later they thought she was probably more like 11 months). Someone in my neighborhood had moved and left her behind so their roommate gave her to me. I assume they had other animals bc she had scars on her neck, and she seemed to enjoy living alone, even though I was working 12 hour shifts. She’s also a very shy cat - she likes being around me, but is very skittish around other animals and people. 
Now I live with my fiancé, and he had his dog and I had my cat, and we now have another dog and cat. We got a kitten to help my cat adjust and it did help, though part of that is bc the kitten was very determined on making my cat like him lol. Now they’re best friends. So depends on your cat, and the cat that you get. Also, your cat might be completely happy alone too.
