C section recovery tips ?

I will be getting a planned C section next week at 39 weeks 🙏🏻
I have no idea what to expect, how was your experience with C section?
Any tips to recover faster ?

Walk as soon as possible. It’s better to walk more and need a nap than to try to conserve all your energy. On, the other hand, I avoided bending over for a week and a half because it hurt. My husband tied my shoes for me!
Use a belly wrap. I got a basic one on amazon. I wanted support for my belly, not a waist trainer. 
Keep on top of the pain. I was using the prescribed narcotics for the first week, then was able to manage pretty well with just Tylenol and Ibuprofen. Ice helps too, especially at night. I slept with an ice pack for the first week. 
But some comfy, high waist undies in a bigger size. The hospital provided mesh undies are actually very comfortable. I grabbed a bunch for home, and wore them for the first week and a half, but eventually I wanted regular undies.

Protein drinks and/or eggs every day!
Take your pain meds. 
Walk - start slow, short distances, but often.
Elevate your feet.
Wear compression socks.
Drink water.
Take your stool softener.
Ask for help.
Find a comfy way to sleep.

When you need to cough/sneeze/laugh, what works for me is to stand (if I'm able to), cross my legs, hold pressure against my incision and engage my pelvic muscles. And like everyone else has said: ask for the belly band if they don't automatically give you one.. my Dr put mine on in the surgery room. Also, have hubby or whomever is with you to keep a timer on their phone so you can call the nurse for pain meds 15 mins before you need to take them... my nurses were always busy so sometimes it took them 30 plus minutes to bring my meds which is why I learned to call for them early. Lastly, get yourself some pure cranberry juice or something similar to fend off a UTI after having a catheter... I had to mix mine with tea to make it palatable lol. Good luck!! 💜💙

The pain WILL pass...some people are ok after a week or two, my pain relief only started around week 6-7 and apparently many others on this app/forum were the same. Everyone is different.

Ask for a pico dressing. It's a negative pressure dressing that stays on for a week. It's a game changer.

Take stool softeners, start walking as soon as possible obviously taking it slow and easy but it really helps you recover faster. And I breastfed but I guess it’d still be good even if you bottle fed but a boppy pillow was amazing to have wrapped around and put the baby on it so they weren’t sitting on my stomach because it’s painful to even have them on your stomach 😖 I’ve had 2 c-sections it’s rough for a good 2 weeks at most but just take it easy and continue to take of yourself! Walk, stool softener, gradually go back to full diet. Keep an eye on your incision to make sure it’s healing properly. Don’t be sad or disappointed if you look bloated or swollen for a while.

I had a c section last week, and my recovery has been a breeze.
I suggest walking around as soon as possible, taking stool softeners and gas x, keep and maybe ask for more mesh underwear that the hospital provides, make sure to have pads handy, take it easy and don’t over exert yourself, drink tons of water, get rest if you can, and lastly listen to your body!

I tried to stay in the hospital as long as possible bc I had stairs at my house and knew it would be hard to get around at home. 
Take things slow and allow yourself a lot of patience. It’s major surgery, and the best thing to do is to rest....but you can’t bc you have a baby to care for! If you have any help definitely use it. My mom was able to visit for a couple days after I got home from the hospital and i don’t know how I could have done it without her. 
Take the medication! I decided on day 3 I didn’t want the painkillers anymore...BIG mistake. I felt fine for day 3 and then went home on day 4. By the evening that I was home I felt like death. I had walked home from the hospital bc it was near my home, and it took everything out of me. I was so out of it by the next morning my mom had to take me into the doctor for more medication. I think they gave me codein. 
Definitely look into getting a c-section specific corset type thing. They have them on amazon and they’re kinda pricey but totally worth it. 
You’re going to be crazy thirsty. Get lots of easy to hold water bottles to put near your bed for easy access.
