Bedbugs

Have a friend that is an EMT. She recently has been coming over to my house and hanging out more. A week ago she told me that she found a bed bug at her house and that she recently had been transporting clients that had bed bugs and thinks she acquired it from a patient. I started to freak out a little bit. I have never had fleas or cockroaches or bed bugs or even lice to be honest I've never experienced any of that before . Then last night I pushed down on the crevice of my couch to set myself up morw and felt something crawl on to my hand and it was an adult bed bug. I know for a fact that it was. I put it in a paper towel and then a glass jar to look at it closely. I have not had any issues before this And honestly no one coming over to my house either. According to online it takes 7 weeks for a bed bug to mature to full size so I know that she brought it a most full grown by accident in her belongings I assume. But out of paranoia I threw out my entire couch last night cleaned the floors and started throwing all bed linen everything into a dryer. Covered my mattresses upstairs. I'm still paranoid. I have been looking in crevices of my end tables downstairs and everything. What is the likelihood that I actually have a full blown infestation in my house. I haven't found evidence of them anywhere else. Also i have hardwood floors that are smooth. What more can I do aside from paying hundreds or thousands for an exterminator.
