Military Mommas— Help!

Sa

My husband is in the army reserves. He joined the military late (age 32), and was already in the military when I met him. I came to terms with his commitment and responsibility to the military. I fully support him.

However, our March baby is 7.5 months old. We started trying for baby #2 this month. Today, he got asked to deploy next October to Afghanistan. That would potentially put him away for the birth of our second child. Additionally, if I am not pregnant prior to him deploying, he said it is highly likely he will not want a second child when he returns.

He can say no, but they can always come back and tell him he has to go. If that’s the case, it is what it is, and I am accepting and supportive. However, it’s definitely scary thinking about going through labor and delivery without him, and handling a newborn alone, while balancing our current child.

He does work for the DoD, and it is likely his boss will say they can’t do without him at this point. However, he has said this in the past, so I am not sure how many times a person can be skipped over.

I know these things happen, and it is what it is. It doesn’t make it less scary for me though.
